Our company tries to evaluate our vendors constantly to see how they are helping to green the environment. Our web hosting company is no exception. Recently we asked "what are you doing for the environment?" They replied with an amazing list of technologies and practices.
"We are operating an ultra, highly efficient, "green" data center that reduces environmental impact and still provides 100% Uptime guaranteed. Our unique data center design reduces overall energy consumption and maximizes energy efficiency. LiveDevelop's datacenter includes all of the recommendations identified in Accenture's 2008 Data Center Energy Forecast Report. These recommendations account for 50% or more of the total energy consumed by data centers.
Benefit from "green" data center design
- Enjoy cost savings from energy by keeping colocation costs low
- Access "big" data center efficiencies
- Lower the carbon footprint of your IT environment
- Enhanced reliability as highly efficient systems fail less often.
Equipment
Our "green" design includes sealed cabinets and ultrasonic humidification. The use of ultrasonic humidification yields a 200% reduction in energy consumption.
Air handling and cooling
Cooling is a major source of data center power consumption. Our design maintains the coldest water with the least amount of energy consumption combined with high-efficiency heat exchanges that leverage free cooling bypass and outside air temperature to cool chilled water. Data center design also includes pressurized floor plenum and separates cold air supply from warm air return.
Lighting
Motion-activated lights in all data center areas combined with energy-efficient lights and bulb types provide additional power savings.
Power supplies
DC power rack systems and virtualized environments provide consolidation options for our data center customers and additional energy savings."
